DELAND, Fla. -

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old boy passed out brownies containing marijuana at Southwestern Middle School on Thursday.

Deputies said one student was taken to a hospital after eating the brownies.

Deputies are unsure of just how many students ate the brownies, but they said at least 12 students were aware the brownies were laced with pot.

Investigators say one of the students who brought the brownies to school also had a bag of marijuana on him.

In December 2012, two students became ill after eating lunch inside the school's cafeteria. At the time, one parent claimed their student was drugged, although the school district said it had no evidence of that.
