A Hawaii family left shocked after a huge tree crashed down, and almost landed on a mother and her young son.

WAHIAWA, Hawaii -

Fire officials say a house in Wahiawa suffered significant damage to the roof and one room after a 100-foot-tall eucalyptus tree fell on it Wednesday morning.

It happened at around 8:42 a.m. at a home on Cypress Avenue.

A baby was in the living room when the tree came down.  The bedroom, where the baby normally sleeps, was crushed by the tree.  No injuries were reported.

Fire officials recommended to the family that they not stay there while the tree is impacting the home.  Volunteers with the American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter responded to the scene to help with food, shelter and clothing.

Red Cross case workers will continue to follow up with anyone affected in the coming weeks to provide referrals, guidance or additional assistance as needed to help with the recovery process.

A storage shed was also damaged on a neighboring property.

No word on what caused the tree to fall.

We will have a full report on this story tonight on KITV4 News at 5, 6 and 10.
