All it took was an "OK" from Billy Joel, and this Vanderbilt student made an unforgettable moment with his idol.

The student, Michael Pollack, says when he was young and learning to play the piano as a child his mother gave him a book of Billy Joel songs to learn. From then on, he feel in love Billy Joel's music.

Fast forward to the present day and his school, Vanderbilt University, announces a visit from Billy Joel titled " A Night of Questions, Answers, and a little bit of music."

After a few of his peers asked their questions, Joel called on Pollack, who explained his lifetime fascination with Joel's music.

"My favorite song is 'New York State of Mind' and I was wondering if I could play with you, well accompany you?" asked Pollack. The rest is history, caught on camera by the school's film crew.

Pollack says, "I kept trying to look up while I was playing and convince myself to remember the moment. Because I knew if it would just breeze right by if I didn't focus in on it and try to remember it."

By the way, Michael Pollack is a freshman and recently signed with BMI.

As Billy Joel said himself, "Guys got chops".
