The Arkansas man was snorkeling at around 11:30 a.m. when a family member noticed he was missing. He was found unresponsive in the water a short time later.
Bystanders pulled him to shore and began performing CPR until firefighters and Medics arrived to the scene.
Medics transported him to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His identity has not yet been released. This is Kauai's first drowning in 2014.
