Big Island man in critical condition after stabbing

HONOLULU -

Big Island police have opened an attempted murder investigation after a stabbing Saturday afternoon.

It happened at 2:15 p.m. off Keaukaha Road near James Kealoha (4-mile) Beach Park in the Keaukaha area.

Officials say a 41-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds to the back after getting into an altercation with another man.

He was transported to the hospital in critical, but stable, condition.

The 46-year-old suspect has been arrested.

Police are asking anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
