Big Island woman pleaded not guilty in rifle shooting case

CAPTAIN COOK, Hawaii -

A Big Island woman accused of shooting a man near Holualoa last month has pleaded not guilty.

West Hawaii Today reports 22-year-old Randi-Keli Banagan appeared in circuit court via video conference. She faces nearly 20 charges, the most serious being attempted murder.

Police say last month Banagan allegedly shot a man with a rifle after picking him and his girlfriend up near Captain Cook Road.

Her trial has been set for Jul. 22.
