HONOLULU -

Shortly after a search for a missing diver resumed Monday morning, a body was found off Oahu's North Shore, according to fire officials.

Fire officials got a call Monday morning from a private fishing boat.  Those on the boat found a body in the water 9-to-10-miles off of Kuilima Point near the Turtle Bay Resort.

The Coast Guard responded to the scene and recovered the body.  The body was taken to the Haleiwa Small Boat Harbor.  Family members identified the body as missing diver Nicholas Spotkaeff.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members during this extremely difficult time," said Capt. Shannon Gilreath, Coast Guard Sector Honolulu commanding officer. "Our gratitude goes out to all those involved in the search who helped bring it to closure."

The Coast Guard and the Honolulu Fire Department were searching for a missing diver last seen near Kaena Point on Saturday.

Nicholas Spotkaeff, 56, was last seen swimming with his son.  The son lost sight of his father when he was on shore and the father was about 100 yards north of Kaena Point.
