Noelani Elementary School in Manoa ended the school day early on Monday due to a chemical odor reported near the school, according to the Department of Education.

School officials notified the Honolulu Fire Department of a suspicious odor in the area at around 8 a.m.

Fire officials are working with the city and state health officials to identify the source of the odor.

Students were kept indoors from the start of the school day.  A total of 10 students reported feeling symptoms of nausea, according to Emergency Medical Services.

The air quality around the school campus was determined "clear" at around 12:30 p.m.   As a precautionary measure, school administrators notified parents shortly after noon to pick up their children prior to the regular 2:15 p.m. end time.

Classes will resume as scheduled on Tuesday.
