Honolulu police say utility poles were knocked down by vehicles in Honolulu and Waimanalo Thursday morning causing road closures.
Just before 2:15 a.m., a car hit two utility poles near the intersection of Kalakaua Avenue and Kapiolani Boulevard. Kalakaua Avenue is closed in both directions between Makaloa Street and Kapiolani Boulevard.
Kalakaua Avenue was reopened just before 1 p.m.
In Waimanalo at around 2:40 a.m., another vehicle knocked down a utility pole. Kalanianaole Highway was closed both directions between Nakini Street and Huli Street. The roads were reopened just before 6:30 a.m., according to police. However, the City Traffic Management Center is reporting that one northbound lane on Kalanianaole Highway is closed near Waimanalo Beach Park due to repairs being made on the utility pole.
