KIHEI, Hawaii -

Emotion has been running high on Maui as the days go by with few answers about the investigation into the disappearance of two women: Moreira Monsalve and Carly "Charli" Scott.

Many in the community met at the Lipoa Center in Kihei on Tuesday. They shared their reactions about the missing person cases.

One of the first things Maui Police Chief Gary Yabuta said to the crowd was that the department is not sleeping peacefully at night knowing these two women are missing. He also added that the Maui police are doing their best to find these women, but some of the crowd did not agree.

Some community members questioned the police about their investigations. Officers answered what they could, but they stressed that they could not share details because that could compromise their investigations.

"There have been a lot of other things that have occurred that we're not releasing due to the type of investigation we're conducting," said Captain John Jakubczak of the Maui Police Department. "We have certain rules of evidence and rules of law that we have to abide by. We cannot just go and take people's things without their rights being infringed upon."

Frustrations seemed high with the reactions from community members.

"I'm not angry at you guys. I'm just frustrated," said a community member.

"People continue to live on our street, and a lot of us are not feeling safe," added another community member.

"The Maui Police Department's relationship with the FBI is the best in the nation. We have three agents here that are personally good friends of mine," said Yabuta.

Maui police took extra time to talk to people after the meeting, mainly about the search for Charli.

Charli's family tells us that police are going to meet with them again to discuss this case and work together. Meanwhile, the family will continue their search Wednesday and offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to Charli's rescue or recovery.
