Police: Speed a possible factor in H-3 on-ramp fatal crash
Honolulu police say the Kamehameha Highway on-ramp to the westbound lanes on the H-3 Freeway in Kaneohe was closed Monday morning due to a motorcycle crash.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene at around 7:30 a.m.
Emergency Medical Services officials say a man died in the crash. The man was riding a motorcycle when he crashed into the guard rail. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say speed is a possible factor in the crash. Investigators say the man may be a 23-year-old military service member.
The Honolulu Police Department says it is working with the state Department of Transportation and the military in setting up motorcycle safety classes.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The on-ramp was reopened just after 11:30 a.m.
