Big Island police is asking drivers to avoid the intersection of Puu Nani Drive and Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 19) in Waimea due to a vehicle crash involving a utility pole and electric wires are on the road Monday morning.
Only one lane of traffic is open on Highway 19. Motorists should allow additional travel time and expect delays when driving through the area for the rest of Monday.
Police say the area is expected to be closed at least until 6 p.m.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution as workers are still in the area repairing the utility lines.
