HONOLULU -

Honolulu police say Waialae Avenue was closed in both directions between Wilhelmina Rise and 13th Avenue due to a vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened shortly after 2 p.m.

Emergency Medical Services officials say a 66-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition.

A car crashed into a utility pole and the transformer came down on the vehicle, according to EMS officails.

A power line was on top of the woman's vehicle, so police were waiting for Hawaiian Electric crews to arrive before getting the woman out.

On Sunday, a man in his 20s was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shocked by a power line that fell on his van.

HECO says about 20 customers lost power because of the crash.  Power was restored by 10 p.m. Tuesday.
