Christopher Deedy trial take two.

In a hearing Friday to determine the scheduling for the retrial of Christopher Deedy, it was determined that jury selection will begin in early June 2014.

Judge Karen Ahn believes that the retrial will begin immediately following the completion of jury selection, sometime in June.

Deedy was not present at this hearing nor was he required to be present.

Some changes will be made to the legal representation for Deedy. Brook Hart, who served as Deedy's attorney in the first mistrial, will now serve as a consultant for the defense. Thomas Otaki will serve as the primary defense attorney.

The initial murder trial against Deedy was declared a mistrial on Aug. 26 after the jury was deadlocked in a 8-4 stalemate (eight for not-guilty, four for guilty).

He was accused of murdering 23-year-old Kollin Elderts at the Kuhio Avenue McDonald's on Nov. 5, 2011. Deedy was in town on assignment as a special agent on security detail for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference.
