MOUNDS BEACH STATE PARK, Ind. -

An Indiana driver says a spider caused her to hit two people in a parking lot.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department said Sandra Rivera, of Indianapolis, was driving a minivan through the parking lot at Mounds Beach State Park near Brookville on Saturday afternoon.

Rivera's minivan struck Manuel Tapia, 28, and Novma Gonzales, 31, both of Indianapolis, as they walked through the lot.

The sheriff's department said Rivera told deputies that she had been distracted by a spider in the minivan, causing her to hit Tapia and Gonzales. The pair suffered leg injuries and were hospitalized, but their current conditions have not been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
