The march was organized to convey their message and  express their outrage at what they believe to be an unnecessary killing.  Deedy was working for the State Department providing security for the 2011 APEC summit in Honolulu when he shot Elderts at a Waikiki McDonald's.

"I think the biggest thing we hope to accomplish today is to just get the word out there to the people that we are moving in the right direction to bring justice to our brother" said Zachary Elderts.

Marchers were told the field office was closed when they arrived. The petition which contains close to 1,400, signatures will be mailed to the State Department instead.
The State Department was contacted by KITV 4 Friday and officials said they will not comment on the outcome of a Hawaii state judicial process or on an internal personnel matter.
