Two men involved in a hit-and-run last year that killed former Kaneohe resident Matthew Fragas were in court for sentencing Tuesday.

Mark Salangdron was found guilty for failing to render aid and extortion. He was behind the wheel of the truck that ran over Fragas in Kaneohe. Salangdron's passenger, Elijah Kawai-Aweau pleaded guilty to charges of hindering prosecution.

"I just want you guys to know how much I miss my son," said Patricia Fragas, Matthew Fragas's mother.

The grief won't let up for Fragas's family members. On Tuesday, they made sure the man behind the wheel of the truck that hit Fragas knew about it.

"For me to see my grandkids every night crying for their dad, it's sickening, I don't know what to tell them anymore," said Bonnie Nishiyama, Fragas's mother in law.

"How they could have done what they did and just left him there, because if your not guilty, you would have stayed to help him," said Nishiyama.

"If he saw Mark on the side of the road I'm sure he would've helped him if mark was hurt, i don't know why he didn't do the same thing for my son," said Fragas.

"Obviously you was guilty, you was drunk and you left him their to die," said Nishiyama.

"Why you got behind that wheel to drive when you knew you couldn't drive, your friends knew you couldn't drive but yet you still took the liberty to do it," said Fragas.

"You're going to have to face the Lord one day and you're going to have to answer to him on why you did that to my son," said Fragas.

"I hope you learn something from this," said Nishiyama.

"The last night we had together, we had a wonderful night. The last thing he told me was he loved me.You're going to live with that the rest of your life," said Fragas.

Tuesday's Judge granted a motion to continue sentencing for Salangdron and Kawai-Aweau. Their new sentencing date is set for August.
