Fire destroys structure near Pali Highway

Honolulu firefighters battle embers that remained after an early morning fire off the Pali Highway Sunday.


A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a building on Gartley Place off Pali Highway.

Fire officials responded to a call for an odor of smoke around 3:45 a.m on Old Pali Road.  After investigating, the found the fire around 4:00 a.m. on Gartley Place.  

The fire was brought under control 10 minutes later.

The structure held a woodworking studio and was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The building was destroyed, with damages estimated at $180,000.  

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
