The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the island of Maui until 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
At 5:30 p.m., radar showed moderate to locally heavy showers redeveloping over the windward slopes and coasts of Maui. This rainfall is likely to persist and water levels in windward Maui streams will be increasing once again, according to forecasters.
Locations in the advisory include windward East Maui from Kipahulu to Hana to Haiku and windward West Maui from Wailuku to Napili.
Forecasters said people in the advisory locations should stay away from flood-prone areas and use extra caution while driving.
