Former Halawa prison guard sentenced after distributing meth
A former Halawa prison guard who pleaded guilty to multiple counts of conspiring to distribute meth at the Halawa Correctional Facility was sentenced Thursday.
Former Adult Corrections Officer James "Kimo" Sanders was sentenced to four years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.
Sanders not only pleaded guilty to distribution, but possession of more than five grams of meth as well. He also pleaded guilty to bribery.
Sanders will have to self-report to a federal prison on the mainland in August.
