"Good Morning America" anchor Amy Robach announced on the show on Monday morning that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Robach's cancer was initially detected during an on-air mammogram she underwent on the show last month.

"A short time later, I was asked to come back for more scans," Robach said.  "Then last week, a tornado of tests.  Doctors move quickly when they're concerned.  Finally, the diagnosis that's still hard for me to say out loud: I have breast cancer."

Robach said she had been putting off the mammogram for a year.

"I know I that I have a fight ahead of me, but I also know that I have a lot worth fighting for.  And I'm so greatful that I got that mammogram that day at GMA," Robach said.
