MARBLEHEAD, Mass. -

A hairdresser came to the rescue of an elderly client in Marblehead after the woman failed to show up for her weekly salon appointment.

The 82-year-old woman was supposed to have a 3 p.m. appointment at Boston Hair Salon last Thursday with stylist Lisa Buswell, who has been seeing the woman at the same time every week for the past seven years, the Salem News reported.

When the woman didn't show up, Buswell called her home several times, but there was no answer. She then called a former neighbor to go check on the woman.

The neighbor saw the woman's car in her driveway, and was able to enter the home through an unlocked door.

He found the woman at the bottom of the stairs. She said she had fallen the day before, and was there for 29 hours, the newspaper reported.

She suffered a fractured leg and hip and broken bones and was taken to Salem Hospital, where she is recovering from surgery.
