Hawaii hosts U.S. Youth Soccer Regional in Waipio

A soccer tournament is bringing together thousands of players, fans, and officials to the state.

Preliminary games at the 2013 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships are complete with 112 teams qualifying for advancement to the quarterfinals on Friday, June 21, at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex in Honolulu.

State champions, US Youth Soccer Far West Regional League champions and select wildcards make up the top 212 boys and girls teams from the 14 US Youth Soccer Region IV State Associations competing for the regional title. States represented including host, Hawaii, are Alaska, Arizona, California North, California South, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Of the four defending champions, Under-13 Boys Pateadores LA (CA-S), Under-14 Boys United FC Gold 98 (CA-S) and Under-15 Boys defending National Champion Santa Barbara SC White (CA-S) advanced to the quarterfinals again in 2013.  Under-16 Girls defending National Champion Legends FC (CA-S) also advanced as they look to capture their first regional title after advancing to Nationals in 2012 through the U.S. Youth Soccer National League.
