HECO crews busy with power outages in Windward Oahu

The Hawaiian Electric Company was busy in Windward Oahu overnight after a tree took down power lines in Kaneohe.

KANEOHE, Hawaii -

Hawaiian Electric Company crews were busy overnight in Windward Oahu after several power outages were reported.

Just after 11 p.m. Tuesday, an outage was reported in Kaneohe after a large tree fell and knocked down power lines on Makalani Street.  The outage affected about 1,000 customers.

By 12:30 a.m., HECO restored power to most customers.  By 6:38 a.m., crews completed repairs and restored power to all affected customers in Kaneohe.

In Enchanted Lake, an outage was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  Preliminary assessments indicate the outage was caused by high winds in the area.  By 4:25 am., crews restored power for most customers.  Just before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, power was restored in Enchanted Lake.

Another outage was reported in Laie at around 10 pm. Tuesday affecting about 300 customers.  HECO says preliminary assessments show the outage was caused by lightning.  By 7 a.m. Wednesday the power in Laie was restored.
