Honolulu man absolved of rape charges
All charges have been dropped against a man accused of raping a Mililani restaurant owner. Instead, he will be taken to a mental hospital.
46-year old Joseph Navas had just been released from a state hospital in May of 2010 when he allegedly beat and raped the owner of Sun's BBQ.
Navas was found unfit for trial at least three times in the past.
Most recently in December, the court ordered another panel to re-examine him. On Wednesday, the findings were the same.
The victim has sued the state for allowing Navas to be released in the first place, but that lawsuit was dismissed.
