HONOLULU -

In memory of former HPU Men’s Basketball player Kameron Steinhoff, Hawaii Pacific University Athletics will hold its 3rd annual Kam’s Helmets giveaway.

It will provide free skateboard/bicycle helmets to any student of any age from any school.

Kam’s Helmets will take place during the half-time of the HPU men’s basketball game on Monday, Feb. 24 at the Neal Blaisdell Center. Tip-off is approximately at 6:30 p.m.

There are 250 helmets available, and sizes and quantities are limited. Each person is limited to picking up one helmet, and everyone must be fitted for a helmet and sign a waiver before pick up.

In May 2011, Steinhoff, a junior at HPU at the time, died from brain injuries resulting from a skateboard accident.

Kam’s Helmets began in March 2012 in Steinhoff’s honor. Helmets are purchased each year through ticket revenue at the men’s basketball games and an annual donation from T&T Tinting.
