Intermittent power affecting Maunawili neighborhood
Intermittent power has kept residents in a Windward Oahu neighborhood in sporadic darkness for much of the weekend.
According to residents in the Maunawili area, power has been on and off since Friday night. Residents say it is affecting a majority of the neighborhood, believed to be about 300 homes.
Officials with Hawaiian Electric say they are aware of an outage on Saturday.
They say that efforts to restore power are currently underway, but that heavy vegetation along power routes is making it difficult to secure and restore power.
HECO hopes to return full power to the neighborhood by Sunday evening.
Power to the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club was reported to be unaffected by the outage Sunday.
