Services were held at Kawaiahao Church Saturday for Jean Sadako King, who became the state's first female Lt. Governor in 1974.

HONOLULU -

Dozens gathered at Kawaiahao Church Saturday to pay final respects to the late Jean King.

King died Nov. 24 at the age of 87.

She was elected to the legislature before running for lieutenant governor in 1978. She served under former Gov. George Ariyoshi for one term before unsuccessfully challenging him for the top seat in 1982.
