Circuit Judge Karl Sakamoto ruled Wednesday against a complaint by Rep. Bob McDermott that Hawaii's same-sex marriage law is unlawful.

Sakamoto said there are no facets to support McDermott's claim.  The judge also said Hawaii's Marriage Equality Act is constitutional under both state and federal law.

Since same-sex marriages became legal on Dec. 2, there have been 676 same-sex marriages performed and registered with the state; 736 same-sex licenses have been issued; 907 same-sex couples have applied for licenses.  These numbers are updated as of Jan. 26.
