Homeless man dies after overnight assault in Pawaa

A homeless man was savagely killed in an alleyway in Pawaa early Friday, according to police.


Honolulu police say a juvenile was charged in the beating death of 62-year-old Anthony Montero, also known as Paul Manner, in Pawa'a last Friday.

Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy who now faces a manslaughter charge.

Early Friday morning near the intersection of South King Street and Punahou Street, the homeless Montero was assaulted.  He died from his injuries a short time later.

Police say they are not looking for additional suspects.
