Kapa'a woman arrested in stabbing investigation

KAPA`A, Hawaii -

A 31-year-old Kapa'a woman was arrested by officers in connection with a New Year's Day stabbing, according to Kauai police.

The stabbing happened Wednesday afternoon at the St. Catherine's cemetery in Kapa'a.

Patrol officers were called to the Wilcox Memorial Hospital's emergency room at around 5 p.m. after the 33-year-old man was transported there by friends.  The man suffered internal injuries and underwent surgery at the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

The victim identified Sherryl Medina Llego as the suspect and said the incident happened shortly after 2 p.m.

Llego was being held at police cellblock on $20,000 bail.
