Kauai police search for bank robbery suspect

KAPAA, Hawaii -

Kaua'i police are searching for the man responsible for robbing the Bank of Hawaii in Kapaa Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect is described as a caucasian male in his thirties and is roughly five feet ten inches tall. He was wearing a dark-colored pullover sweatshirt with a large white emblem on the front, blue jeans, slippers, and a dark baseball cap at the time of the incident.

The robbery occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the Bank of Hawaii on Kuhio Highway in Kapaa.

According to detectives, the man walked into the bank, passed a note to the teller stating that he had a gun and demanded money.
He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police urge anyone with information to 241-1686. Anonymous tipsters can call CrimeStoppers at 241-1887, and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
