Kailua Hwy back open after large tree falls

KAILUA, Hawaii -

Honolulu police say a large tree blocked the Honolulu-bound lanes of Kalanianaole Highway near Kapa'a Quarry Road Friday afternoon.

The official announcement by police was made at around 1:50 p.m.

At around 1:15 p.m., the large tree fell on the highway between Kapa'a Quarry Road and Castle Junction.

Only one lane closed for Kailua-bound traffic, but re-opened at 7:37 p.m.
