Latest Hollywood flick finishing up Oahu filming
Lights! Camera! Almost pau...
The latest major motion picture to film on Hawaiian soil is almost finished with its initial production.
The film, currently called "Untitiled Hawaii Project" because it has no name, began filming on Oahu Sept. 26.
Described as a romantic comedy-drama, it stars: Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray and Alec Baldwin.
It is being directed by famed Director Cameron Crowe, who also directed "Jerry Maguire" and "Almost Famous"
Producers say most of the Oahu filming was done on Hickam Air Force Base, but sites around Oahu have been utilized. Those include Waikiki, Waimanalo and Downtown Honolulu, the latter of which is where some of the final shoots are to take place.
In fact a small portion of North King Street, between River Street and Kekaulike Mall, will be closed for filming starting at 8 p.m. Friday. The shoot is anticipated to last 12 hours.
Traffic will be rerouted around the site, and the bus stop there will be moved up to Maunakea Street.
Previously, filming had occurred on Nuuanu Avenue and Bethel Street north of Hotel Street.
The film is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2014.
