HONOLULU -

A local shark expert and an educational coordinator for the Department of Land and Natural Resources pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography on Thursday.

Randy Honebrink admitted to have two child pornographic images on his laptop and external hard drive.

He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.  Sentencing is scheduled for May 19.

Honebrink was released on an unsecured $50,000 bond.

Honebrink's attorney, William Harrison, says he had no intention of downloading child pornography.  Harrison says the website where Honebrink may have gotten the images claimed it was not child porn.

The judge held acceptance of the plea agreement until after the pre-sentencing report.

Honebrink remains employed by the DLNR until such time the court has adjudicated this case, according to DLNR officials.
