Hawaii County Civil Defense is reporting at least two road closures on the Big Island due to the weather conditions.
On Monday morning, Route 132, Kapoho Road, was closed due to fallen trees and downed power lines. That announcement was made just before 5 a.m.
The closure was between Nanawale Boulevard and Lehuanani Place. Motorists were advised to use Leilani Avenue. Route 132 was reopened at around 2 p.m.
Just before 11:15 a.m., Waipio Valley Road was closed due to flooding. Access through the road is being limited to only residents.
An overturned car was also reported near Waimea at around 7 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.
Hawaii County Civil Defense says the already saturated ground and the continuous rain are causing these problems and forecasters believe it will continue for some time.
