Man, 75, struck and killed by vehicle in Nu'uanu

Honolulu police say a man in his 60s died Tuesday morning after he was hit by a vehicle in Nuuanu.

HONOLULU -

Honolulu police are investigating after a 75-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Nu'uanu Tuesday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Nu'uanu Avenue and Bates Street at around 5:15 a.m.

The man was initially taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died.

A woman in his 50s driving a blue Ford was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Investigators are also looking into speed and visibility as possible factors in the crash.

The man was later identified by the medical examiner as Andrew Park Jr. of Honolulu.

Nu'uanu Avenue was closed between South Judd Street and Pauoa Road during the investigation.  The road was reopened at around 7:45 a.m.

This was the fourth pedestrian who died from injuries on Oahu roads in two weeks.
