A 28-year-old man is dead after crashing his motorcycle along the Likelike Highway.
Police say the crash happened on the Kaneohe bound side of the highway, just before the Wilson tunnel, around 4:15 Sunday morning.
Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was wearing a helmet, but speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
Honolulu Police Lt. Bobby Towne said, "Speed is a definite factor in this case. If he were traveling the speed limit, it probably would have been easier to negotiate speedway."
Witnesses tell police they saw the motorcyclist pass them at a high rate of speed. Witnesses say when they caught up to him, they saw that he had crashed.
Likelike Highway northbound was closed while police investigated, but it has since been reopened.
