An Oahu grand jury indicted an Ewa Beach man on Tuesday for promotion of prostitution, and if convicted he may face a hefty sentence.

Isaiah Black, 28, is the first person to be tried under a harsh new law regarding promotion of prostitution.

In 2011, city prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro introduced legislation that encouraged victims of sex trafficking to come forward. Lawmakers responded by changing promotion of prostitution to a Class A felony.

The offense is punishable by 20 years in prison.
