Martin Luther King Jr. celebrations begin Sunday

The events to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr begin Sunday when the Hawaii coalition holds its 26th annual holiday celebration.

The annual candlelight bell ringing ceremony takes place at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Nagasaki Bell. The event will feature the Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, Central Union Youth Choir and the Royal Hawaiian Band.

On Monday, the Martin Luther King Jr. parade will start up at 9 a.m. from Magic Island, march through Waikiki, and end at Kapiolani park. Following the annual parade, entertainment will be held at the park from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
