Maui man ordered not to drive after hit-and-run crash
A Maui man was ordered not to drive Wednesday after being indicted in connection with a hit and run crash that killed a pedestrian.
The Maui News says 44-year old Walter Vierra Senior pleaded not guilty to charges of negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving without a license, and promotion of a dangerous drug
The fatal crash happened in August of 2012.
31-year-old Brandy Mendes was walking home when she was struck in Waiehu. Her body was found the next morning. Vierra turned himself in the following week. He was indicted by a grand jury in January and posted bail to be released.
Vierra's trial date is set for April 22.
