Medical examiner says UH football player drowned
The medical examiner released the official cause of death for a University of Hawaii football player whose body was recovered in waters off Sandy Beach in November.
The official cause of death for Jack Willis Wilson III is drowning. His death was ruled as accidental.
Wilson was reported missing on Nov. 30 at 4:30 a.m. His body was found at around 8 a.m.
Wilson was with a group of friends splashing around in the shore break when his friends noticed him missing, according to a Coast Guard spokesman. The group search for about 10 minutes before calling for help.
Wilson was a walk-on running for UH and was a junior majoring in sociology. He was 21.
