Kapiolani Community College's annual fundraising gala Ho'okipa treated 300 guests to the gastronomic delights of its staff and graduating students.

The sold-out event raised money for the school's culinary programs and a future campus at the old Cannon Club on the slopes of Diamond Head. One of the highlights: the awarding of the Mixed Plate Scholarship.

KITV4's Pamela Young and husband Gary Sprinkle announced the winner of this year's competition.

"I am so excited," said Mixed Plate Scholarship Winner Joselito Calpito.

Jose hopes one day to open his own restaurant.

All of the finalists receive scholarship funds. Thursday's menu featured a five entree selection and desserts all prepared and served by KCC culinary and hospitality students.
