A new website is taking whale-watching to a whole other level in Hawaii. KITV4's Brenton Awa has more on this new way of tracking whales

HONOLULU -

A website that tracks whales in Hawaiian waters is using data from a local researcher.

The Smartmine Whale Tracker is an interactive animated map by earth sciences and technology company GeoEngineers.

The website uses data from the Cascadia Research group led by Dr. Robin Baird in Hawaii.  The website allows you to follow various types of whales around the islands while projecting wind and ocean currents.

The Smartmine Whale Tracker was launched last Thursday.  Click here to go to the whale tracking website.
