EWA BEACH, Hawaii -

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says a 7.3-magnitude earthquake off Japan Friday morning is not a tsunami threat to Hawaii and a Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected.

The earthquake was centered 295 miles east-northeast of Tokyo and struck at 7:10 a.m. Hawaii time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.  This was off the Fukushima region of Japan.

There are some reports that a small tsunami would reach the Fukushima coast, the site of the nuclear power plant damaged in the 2011 tsunami.  So far, there were no immediate reports of damage from the quake.
