Officials from the Department of Public Safety say Eric Pixley was reported missing at a 1:30 a.m. headcount on Saturday. He was last seen at the 11 p.m. headcount.

The 49-year-old is 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Honolulu police and state sheriffs were notified. An investigation has been launched into how he escaped the facility.

Laumaka is a minimum security center for community custody inmates. That means inmates are either actively seeking employment or working in the community. It is located one block from Oahu Community Correctional Center.

Pixley was serving time for a probation violation. An escape charge will be added upon capture.

Officials are urging anyone with information to call 911.
