An Oahu man who killed a woman with his car while she sat at a bus stop three years ago was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday.
Before the sentence was handed down, 44-year-old Richtenson Alyphios said, through a Chuukese translator, that he completely regrets what happened.
Alyphios pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and failure to render aid. He was not supposed to be driving when he slammed his car into a bus stop in Waipahu in August 2010. His driver's license had been revoked in May of that year for drunken driving.
The crash killed 68-year-old Benita Duldulao. A second person at the bus stop was injured but survived.
