Oahu man hospitalized after fire evacuation

Fire crews mopped up after an apartment fire in the Dillingham area Thursday.

Fire crews are mopping up after an apartment fire Thursday night in the Dillingham area.

Officials say it happened on Akepo Lane and all residents were forced to evacuate.

The fire was reported at about 8:30 p.m. on the second floor of the building.

Witnesses say the residents helped put out the fire even before fire crews arrived on scene.

One 45-year-old man was taken to the hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
