Molokai Landfill reopened after suspected ordnance detonated
Maui County officials say the Molokai Landfill was reopened on Tuesday after the military detonated a suspected explosive ordnance.
Landfill workers made the discovery on Monday. The Molokai Police Department is monitored and secured the facility. Police contacted the military disposal unit.
The "all clear" was given just before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and the landfill was reopened to the public.
The Maui County Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, thanks our Molokai residents for their patience during this matter.
