STUART, Fla. -

Meeco is an adorable dog. He's affectionate, loving and playful, and he's also blind.

Buddy and Cathy Martin adopted Meeco about a month and a half ago after their nephew found the dog wandering alone.

"He called the dog over," said Buddy Martin. "The dog come running over and tripped over his foot and ran into his ankle, so we knew right away the dog was blind."

The Martins tracked down Meeco's owner who told them he could no longer afford to keep the dog. That's when Meeco became part of the Martin family.

"He tends to trip over if you leave your shoes out, so shoes got to go away," said Cathy Martin.

Meeco has fallen off the porch and bumped into the shed. He's always running into the chain-link fence surrounding the Martins' property. But his tail never stops wagging.

"He loves on everybody," said Cathy Martin.

"He's just a delight," added Buddy Martin.

The Martins want to do whatever they can to restore Meeco's sight, but they can't afford the surgery. That's where Sgt. Ken Ault of the Martin County Sheriff's Office comes in.

"Just looking at him, your heart pours out," said Ault.

Ault is raising money to pay for Meeco's care.
